President’s Report
Over the last week our club helped out with the MHERV (Men’s Health Education Rural Van) at the Wauchope show on Friday and Saturday and again on Sunday outside the Wauchope IGA store. Eleven of our members helped out and the MHERV Coordinator congratulated our club on the wonderful job they did having 138 people attend for a medical check. Five serious cases were brought to light and advised to seek their Doctors advice, approx. 58 people were diagnosed with high blood pressure and approx.. 49 with high cholesterol. This is a wonderful service to Rural people who a lot of the time do not get a chance to get to a Doctor regularly. Many thanks to those members who helped make the three day experience so successful and at the same time showcased Rotary at work in the community.
Our guest speaker this week had members enthral by the tales he told. Doug Emanuel Convenor of an Australian History Class at U3A selected 3 to tell your member about The Battle of Broken Hill, Les Boots – Jockey extraordinaire and The man on the $50 note. I felt many of our members had never heard these stories and found them most interesting.
